Silentium

É uma banda de gothic metal formada em 1995 na Finlândia.

A banda foi formada em 1995 pelo tecladista Sami Boman e pela vocalista Matti Aikio. Depois se juntaram a banda, o violinista Jani Laaksonen, os guitarristas Toni Lahtinen & Juha Lehtioksa e o baterista Jari Ojala.

Em 1999 Assinaram contrato pela conceituada  Spikefarm records. "Infinita Plango Vulnera" foi muito bem recebido pela imprensa e fãs.

O CD "Sufferion", em 2003 fez com que a banda tivesse um maior reconhecimento e saísse em turnês para shows. A banda passa por mudanças de integrantes.

O baterista Jari Ojala decide regressar e a vocalista Riina Rinkinen passa a ser a nova vocalista do Silentium Em 2005 assinam contrato com a  Dynamic Arts Records e dirigem-se ao estúdio Sundi Coop. onde gravam o novo CD "Seducia" e o primeiro single "Frostnight". É marcado por uma linha mais melódica, com passagens que muitas vezes mesclam o sinfônico e o progressivo. Com este álbum, a banda obteve um maior reconhecimento, inclusive tendo este chegado ao Brasil graças a Hellion Records.

Em 2008, é lançado o álbum Amortean, com a participação de uma orquestra e corais. Neste álbum, os vocais de Riina estão um pouco mais graves e melancólicos.
