Em suma, conta a história de dois brutais assassinatos de mulheres na Rua Morgue, em Paris, casos que parecem insolúveis até que o detetive C. Auguste Dupin assume o caso e, usando sua estupenda inteligência, desvenda esse grande mistério.

            O detetive Dupin é considerado o precursor de Sherlock Holmes. Os métodos de investigação são semelhantes ao do detetive inglês e, as histórias policiais em que aparece, encontram-se no período da gêneseda literatura policial internacional.

            Apesar dessas qualidades, Dupin é pouco conhecido pois seu criador escreveu apenas três contos com ele (a obra completa de Poe é pequena em razão da sua morte precoce, ao 40 anos, além de mais identificada com contos de terror e suspense, outra criação literária do genial autor estadunidense)

Iron Maiden

Killers, lançado em 1981, é o segundo álbum do Iron Maiden, o primeiro a contar com o guitarrista Adrian Smith, e o último do vocalista Paul Di'Anno. Foi ainda o primeiro álbum do produtor estreiante Martin Birch, que produziu todos os álbuns do Iron Maiden até 1992. Esse álbum foi caracterizado pelo uso de duas guitarras, e suas letras foram compostas quase que exclusivamente pelo baixista Steve Harris. A versão norte americana do álbum foi lançado alguns meses depois da versão inglesa. Foi lançada pela Harvest Records/Capitol Records e depois pela Sanctuary Records/Columbia Records. Ainda foi adicionada a música "Twilight Zone"

A música "Murders in the Rue Morgue" foi baseada em um conto homônimo do escritor Edgar Allan Poe. "Rue Morgue" é uma rua ficcional em Paris que em português significa "Rua da Morgue".

O álbum foi relançado em 1998 junto com um CD bônus.
